Hi there!
I am Stephanie Perkins, founder of By Grace Learning Center. I'm wife to Vada and mama to three kiddos (Maxwell 9, Ava 3 and Benjamin 1). I am also a first year homeschool "teacher" to Maxwell. WHEW! I thank God for HIS grace because this year, honey, I've needed it!
If you asked me three years ago if I would ever homeschool, I would have LOL'd, hard. Then God.
As I watched the world, and our public school system, spin deeper into 'wrong is right,' God stirred my heart. I pushed the stirring aside, filled with excuses and fear. God pushed back harder. HE won. I began homeschooling Maxwell this year, 2022-2023.
In a few short months, I discovered how incredibly rewarding homeschooling is. I also discovered how incredibly challenging homeschooling is. amiright!?
I have felt on an island, scouring the internet for answers and checking how to re-enroll back in "normie" school. Yet, through grace, I began connecting with a small tribe of like-minded, Christian homeschooling mamas and felt relief, comfort and community to keep pressing forward.
This journey, complemented by my background in training and development, brings me here, building By Grace.

Curriculum
By Grace welcomes students 1st through 5th grade.
We may have a teacher, but By Grace does not mimic traditional school.
We blend the best from Charlotte Mason and interest/strength led learning in a multi-age classroom to meet each unique child where they learn best.
The following subjects will be taught:
- Reading
- Math
- Spanish
- Science
An emphasis on building discernment (critical thinking) will be a focus throughout. Learn more about our curriculum philosophy here.
Curriculum for students will be discussed with parents before the school year, to get to know your child's strengths and preferences, learning level, etc. Communication channels will be open and flowing continually so what is done at By Grace complements and adds to the learning done at home.
How It Works
- By Grace meets twice weekly, 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM (60 sessions/240 hours total)
- Classes begin early September and runs through late May (30 weeks)
- Meeting location: Living Well Church, Wausau
- By Grace is a registered non-profit (501c3) organization, homeschool cooperative. As such, students' primary education remains with parents or designated caregivers, at home. Students are registered with the State of Wisconsin as homeschooled and continue to submit PI-1206.
- Tuition is $1200 annually or $133 monthly ($5/hour of teacher instruction) which includes teacher salary, materials and facility fees. (contact us about scholarships)

Building Our Community
As a homeschool parent you may ask yourself...

"What do I do when my kiddo doesn't want to learn!?"
Don't go it alone! By Grace builds community for students and parents. Students build deep relationships through consistent, co-op engagement. Parents deepen connections through book club, frequent activities and engagement in the classroom.
Together is better.
By Grace is a teacher-led homeschool cooperative. Parents are not expected to be present throughout the day, but are absolutely welcome to do so. That said, parents or caregivers may be asked to be present in the classroom at times to support their child, if need arises.
